Acceptable use policy
Last updated 2026-10-11. FamilyPhotoLab makes AI pictures and short videos from family photos. This policy covers everything you upload or create here and is part of our terms of use.
1. Never allowed
- Child sexual abuse material and anything that sexualises or endangers a child. Any sexual, suggestive or exploitative depiction of a minor — real, drawn or AI-generated — including swimwear, bath, underwear or “provocative” scenes of children. We report such material to the relevant authorities (in the US, the NCMEC CyberTipline).
- Pornography and sexual content. Nudity, sexual acts or sexually explicit material of anyone, including “artistic” or AI-generated versions, and requests to undress a person.
- Deepfakes and impersonation. Putting a real person’s face into a scene they were not in to deceive anyone, pictures of celebrities, politicians or other public figures, and fake documents.
- Violence and gore. Graphic violence, injury, abuse or content that promotes harm to people or animals, including self-harm.
- Hate speech. Content that attacks or dehumanises people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or disease.
- Copyright and trademark infringement. Uploading photos, characters or artwork you do not have the right to use.
2. Photos of people
- Upload only photos of yourself, or of adults who have agreed to it.
- The baby predictor takes photos of two adults. Photos of children, or of anyone who looks under 18, are refused.
- No celebrities or public figures, no photos taken from someone else’s social media to make pictures of them.
- We do not offer face swaps into other people’s photos or videos, and we do not make chats or voices of people who have died.
3. How every picture of a child is kept safe
- No typed prompts. Pictures of babies and children come only from our own fixed scenes, each written and reviewed by a person: fully clothed in long sleeves, in everyday settings such as a blanket, a park, a sofa or a plain portrait backdrop. You choose options (boy, girl, surprise); you cannot type what the picture shows.
- Our own word screen. Every prompt we send — our templates included — and any text you type elsewhere on the site is checked against our own list of refused words and combinations in nine languages before anything else. The list covers every category in section 1 — sexual content, a child word together with swimwear, bath, nudity, underwear or “sexy”, violence and gore, self-harm, hate symbols, deepfakes and named public figures, and well-known characters and brands. We review it whenever a refusal or a report shows a gap; last reviewed 2026-10-11.
- A second screen for typed text. Where a page lets you type words (such as a card greeting), they are also checked by Waffo’s content-safety service. It is a second opinion only: in our own test it allowed a prompt our list refuses.
- Upload check. Each uploaded photo is reviewed by a vision model before anything is made: it must show one clear face, be an adult on the baby predictor, and contain nothing sexual.
- Output check. The model’s own safety filter runs first; then every picture is reviewed by a vision model before anyone sees it. A picture that is not fully clothed, everyday and appropriate for a family album is not shown, not stored and not charged for.
- Short retention. Uploaded photos are deleted within 24 hours. See the privacy policy.
4. AI labeling
Everything FamilyPhotoLab makes is AI-generated, and we say so: results are shown as AI guesses made for fun, not genetic predictions; previews carry a visible watermark; and every picture you download or share carries a note inside the file (its EXIF description) saying it is an AI-generated image made by FamilyPhotoLab. Please do not present these pictures as real photographs.
5. What we log
Each safety decision (allowed, refused, or the check failed) is logged with the reason, the template or the screened words, and an account identifier — not the photos — so a person can review refusals and reports.
6. Reporting
If you see something on FamilyPhotoLab that breaks this policy, or believe a photo of you was used without your consent, write to hi@familyphotolab.com with the page link. We act on reports within two business days, sooner for anything involving a child.
7. Enforcement
We refuse requests that break these rules. For serious or repeated violations we suspend the account and keep any payment for work already delivered. Attempts to create or upload child sexual abuse material are reported to the relevant authorities.
8. Appeals
Our checks fail closed, so now and then they refuse an ordinary photo or picture. If you think a refusal or a suspension was a mistake, write to hi@familyphotolab.com with the page link or your order reference. A person reviews the logged decision and replies within two business days. If pictures in a set you paid for were refused and are missing, we redo them or refund you in full, as the terms say.
